  • (Steampunk) gadget construction workshop
  • Family hot air balloon construction contest (display them in the library!)

    • Skype with people from different countries?  Schools? Libraries?
  • Follow a virtual explorer (blogs, biographies)
  • “Around town in 80 stops” coordinate with local businesses/organizations (park districts, grocery stores, etc..)  to be stops on a map you create. Give prizes for people who do all stops and smaller prizes for people who do partial tours.
  • Choose one theme, such as fashion, music, literature, culture, cooking.  Highlight this theme as experienced in various countries, “Cooking around the world.”
  • Coordinate with local school Curriculum Director.  Create a program that fits with Common Core standards.
  • “History -v- Hollywood” contest.  See how well patrons know what’s in the book and what’s in the movies.
  • Transportation.  Highlight innovations.
